A mobile hotspot, or MiFi, combines two radios: a cellular modem that connects to the network through the SIM exactly as a phone does, and a Wi-Fi access point that shares that connection with nearby laptops, phones and tablets. The single most important factor is band compatibility, which must be checked before purchase. A hotspot can only connect on the bands it supports, so the carrier and SIM must use the listed 5G and LTE bands. Where they match, performance is excellent; where they do not, the device cannot connect at all. These bands are common in many regions but not universal, so confirming them with the intended carrier is the essential first step.
The 2.2 Gbps figure is a theoretical peak. Real-world sub-6 GHz 5G usually delivers from around 100 Mbps to several hundred megabits per second depending on network, spectrum, distance and congestion, still far faster than 4G and ample for streaming, calls and multi-device use. Locally, the 5 GHz Wi-Fi is fastest at close range while 2.4 GHz reaches further, and ten active devices share the available throughput.
Two limits matter most. The device is 4G and 5G only, with no 3G or 2G fallback, so it finds no service where only older networks exist, which makes coverage checking vital for travel and rural use. And on this unit the 5G band can be disabled by a factory reset, after which it must be re-enabled in settings. Battery life of roughly sixteen hours of active use covers a day away from power, and the pre-owned grade sets cosmetic expectations while function is unchanged.

Most issues relate to the SIM, the bands or signal.
No service. Confirm the SIM is active and seated, the carrier bands match, and the APN is correct. With no 3G or 2G fallback, a location with only older coverage shows no service.
5G gone after a reset. A factory reset can switch off the 5G band on this unit; re-enable it in settings and it returns where 5G coverage exists.
Slow speeds. Check the signal and move toward a window or higher ground, since 5G and LTE weaken with distance and obstructions; the unit may fall back from 5G to LTE in weak areas. Disconnecting idle devices frees bandwidth.
Cannot add a device. The limit is ten; disconnect an idle device to make room.
For maintenance, keep the unit cool under heavy use, charge it with a good USB-C supply, avoid leaving the battery fully flat for long, and apply firmware updates from settings if offered. As a pre-owned product, check the battery and ports on arrival.
Being unlocked, it works with a data SIM from any carrier whose bands it supports, making it flexible for travel, remote work and as a backup when home broadband fails.
