The EM713 is a 7-inch IPS monitor in a metal housing, weighing 510 grams, running 1024x600 natively at 500 nits, with HDMI, VGA, AV and BNC inputs and a 5V supply. It is not a desk accessory and not a portable monitor. It is a component: something you bolt into a control panel, a camera rig, a machine enclosure or a Raspberry Pi project and leave there. The metal case, the analogue inputs and the ability to switch the backlight off independently all point the same way, and judged on those terms it is well made for the money.
The first is touch. The feature field at the top of the listing includes Touch Screen, and the setup instructions tell you to verify that touch is working. Neither is true of this product. The manufacturer's own product parameters state Without touch, and the sole variant on sale is labelled NON-touch. The instruction text was carried over from a touch-equipped version of the same chassis, which is a common artefact in this category and worth spotting before you order. The second is resolution. The description mentions both 1024x600 and up to 1920x1080, and these describe different things: 1024x600 is the physical pixel count, while 1080p is the largest input signal the board will accept before scaling it down to fit. Sending it 1080p works and is sometimes necessary when a source cannot output anything lower, but no additional detail reaches your eye and small text becomes difficult to read. The panel is a 1024x600 panel.
The input list is the reason to choose this over a generic small display. BNC and AV are analogue video standards that consumer monitors dropped long ago and that remain everywhere in the industrial and surveillance world: CCTV cameras, older CNC and machine controllers, inspection and microscope cameras, broadcast gear. Having them alongside HDMI and VGA means one small monitor covers both eras without a converter. For single-board computer projects the listing does something else unusually well: it publishes the exact config.txt lines needed to drive 1024x600 at 60Hz over HDMI, including the custom mode definition, which saves the trial and error that otherwise consumes an evening. Follow that guidance and heed the note about using a full 2A supply, because an undersized power source produces flickering and blank screens that look like hardware failure. Support extends across Raspbian, Ubuntu, Kali, Kodi and Windows 10 IoT, all driver-free, as well as plain Windows as a secondary PC monitor.
For embedding a screen into a machine, a camera system or a Pi build, this is a sensible and durable choice: metal housing, 500 nits which is brighter than most of this category, IPS viewing angles, independent backlight control, five input types including BNC and AV, a built-in speaker and published Raspberry Pi configuration. The honest counterweights are that it has no touchscreen despite a feature field claiming otherwise, that 1024x600 is the real resolution and 1080p only the accepted input, that contrast is quoted two different ways, that the design dates from 2016, and that a stray 23.6-inch figure sits in its size field. Bought as an instrument panel rather than a display, it does its work well.
